> Najib accepts apology
Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today said he accepted Malaysiakini's apology in relation to a report on a manifesto from a ‘support group' which was wrongly attributed to him.
He also praised journalist Wong Choon Mei - who had written the report - as having shown "high professional values" in accepting responsibility for the error. She resigned yesterday.
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby after answering a question in the Dewan Rakyat in his capacity as finance minister, Najib said he was satisfied with the apology issued by the news portal.
"The question remaining is as to those quarters who are the real culprits behind the story. They are still hiding and we still do not know who they are," said Najib, who is also Umno deputy president.
He said he would leave it to the authorities to identify these persons - Malaysiakini.
