> Kit Siang scoffs at rebuttal

THE government was challenged to give a stronger rebuttal than it did to a claim that the solicitor-general had completed investigation into a report made by opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim against the attorney-general and the inspector-general of police.

Opposition stalwart Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timur) said the explanation given by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz had raised more questions.

"What is pertinent is Nazri's admission that he had not contacted the solicitor-general.

"Unless there is a stronger rebuttal, I stand by what I said in Parliament," Lim said at the House lobby.

Speaking during the debate on the budget on Wednesday, Lim claimed that solicitor-general Datuk Idris Harun had completed an investigation into Anwar's complaint 10 years ago.

Anwar alleged that the A-G, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, and IGP, Tan Sri Musa Hassan, had fabricated evidence against him after he was assaulted by the then IGP Tan Sri Rahim Noor in the police lockup - NST.
