> Chaos in Bangkok

PICTURE-STORY:   Malaysians have been advised to consider cancelling any plans to visit Bangkok, in view of the escalating tension between the government and supporters of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Thai soldiers unleashed hundreds of rounds of automatic weapons fire to clear anti-government protesters from a major intersection in Bangkok early Monday.

Demonstrators responded by throwing at least one gasoline bomb at a line of troops. At least 70 people were hurt - Story and photo by The Star.
