> Tengku Razaleigh's first

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah today received his first nomination to contest the Umno presidency, three weeks after Umno divisions started to hold their delegates meetings and after more than 100 of the 191 divisions had convened theirs.

The nomination came from his own Gua Musang division, which held its delegates meeting at the Gua Musang Umno complex in Bukit Chekati here.

All the 384 delegates were unanimous in nominating Tengku Razaleigh for president in the elections at the party general assembly scheduled for March 24 to 28 next year.

The delegates were also unanimous in nominating Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad for deputy president.

For the three posts of vice-president, they nominated former Umno vice-president Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad, Johor Wanita Umno chief Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique and former deputy finance minister Datuk Dr Affifudin Omar - Bernama.
